Huayna Capac

Huanya Capac, which means splendid youth, was born in 1490 in Cuzco, Peru. He was the son of Tupan Inca Iupanqui and empress Mama Ocllo. He was very young when his father died. Therefore, he was forced to become a ruler fast. He succeeded his father in 1483. He was the eleventh Inca ruler of the Inca empire and sixth of the Hanan Dynasty.

First he married to a woman name Cusi Ramai. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to give birth to a son. Then he married his family members, Huaco, Pilco, Rahua, Ocllo, Mama Runtu and many more. He had more than 500 wives and 50 children  In his time, Quito, Calcu and Tumipampa were built. He extended  the Inca empire to the south to Chile and Argentina. For a lot of time, he fought to have a better and strong control of the northern part of the empire, which is Cuzco. He also had made some more great development to the Inca Empire during his reign. He constructed some roads, one from Tumez to Pachacamac and the other from Pachacamac to Cuzco. During his time, small homes for Chasquis on the Inca roads were constructed.   His people of the empire considered him considered a god. People used to bow down to him when he was carried by. The only people who were allowed to see are face was his close relatives and friends.

Right before is death he made a big mistake which was to split the empire between his two sons, Atahualpa and Huascar. This lead into civil wars and to the downfall of the Inca Empire. He also had another will which was to remain his heart in Quito, but body in Cuzco. He died around 1527 on the northern part of the empire. He’d more likely died of the smallpox but some evidences suggest Bartonellosis was the murderer. He and his hisson, Ninan Cuyochi died at the same year. People were very very sad about his death. Some people believe that the voices of the people crying went so high that some of birds from the sky fell down. On this day hundreds of sacrifices were performed. Huascar and Atahualpa became rulers after their father’s death. Unfortunately, this turned into civil war because both of the rulers wanted the whole empire. At the same time Fransizco Pizzaro got a chance and took over the civilization. This was the life of Huayna Capac.
